The e-mail firewall technology developed by eleven serves as the basis of eXpurgate enSurance, available as an add-on for eleven In-House E-Mail Security and already integrated as part of eleven Managed E-Mail Security. It enables comprehensive security for company e-mail correspondence during e-mail infrastructure peaks with the goal of ensuring uninterrupted business-related e-mail communication. It provides sustainable protection for major load peaks, targeted spam attacks, and denial-of-service (DoS) attempts.

eleven uses an internally developed, completely dynamic process that identifies principal and relevant communication partners using a frequent-partner list. These partners are given priority during times of particularly high peak demand; subsequent e-mails are temporarily rejected and their delivery is postponed until a later point in time, i.e., when the peak situation has ended. That allows important e-mails to be delivered without any delays.

In addition, enSurance technology offers increased protection against e-mail-bomb attacks and mail loops. E-mail bombs are enormous mailings sent to individual recipients within a company or from individual sources, and represent one of the most commonly used DoS methods. Mail loops can occur, for example, when nondelivery notifications meet automatic vacation responses. enSurance slows such potential infinite loops that can cause e-mail volumes to explode in a short period of time using targeted, reliable methods. Users can also choose to specify their own threshold values.

enSurance E-Mail Firewall technology is designed to offer complete scalability and operates on a cross-platform basis. An enSurance platform simultaneously supports and protects up to 20 parallel eXpurgate installations (e-mail servers).
